DART posted by Robert N. Ward on Friday, September 7, 2001

Looking for any information on the ancestry of Jay (or possibly Joseph) Andrew DART b. 1865 in Wisconsin. His family moved to the Taylorville area abt 1867. His mother's name was Sarah and he had one brother, "Al" which may have been for Almon or Almond. Jay A. DART grew up in the Taylorville area, attended a business college in Qunicy, and worked in a store in Chicago before becoming a homesteader in McHenry County, North Dakota, where he married in 1921, and died in 1935. The name Joseph DART (whom we think may be Jay) appears on the 1870 Census of Blueville, along with an Almond, sons of J. and Sarah DART. Jay DART was my wife's paternal grandfather and we know nothing about his ancestry. This Christian County connection has just been discovered, and any information on this DART family would be very much appreciated.
