FATZER, STRITES, ZIMMERMAN posted by Tom Wilson on Tuesday, February 16, 1999

Christian ZIMMERMAN and his wife Anna (STRITES) ZIMMERMAN lived near Taylorville, Christian County, Illinois in the 1860s and 1870s. One of their children is Rosanna ZIMMERMAN, my great-great grandmother. She married John Jacob FATZER on April 9, 1868 following the conclusion of his tour of duty in the Civil War. Their children were: Anna FATZER (b. Dec 14, 1870), Louisa FATZER (b. April 5, 1873 - my great grandmother), J. R. FATZER (b. December 31, 1876) and Carrie FATZER (b. June of 1878). I am particularly interested in the siblings of Rosanna ZIMMERMAN and her parent's brothers, sisters, lineage, etc. The family bible contains this information but it is hand written in faded German script (non-translatable). I understand there was at least one large family of Zimmermans living in the Taylorville area at this time (John Adam ZIMMERMAN and family ...John Adam was born in 1827 and died in Taylorville, Illinois on August 2, 1917...buried: Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville)...but I have not been able to establish any linkage to Christian ZIMMERMAN's family. Christian ZIMMERMAN was a farmer...and I would presume, a landowner in Christian County. Can you help? Thanks, in advance!!!

BATES, MCWARD, MURRY, WOLFKIEL, WOLFKILL posted by Michael Milliken on Friday, February 26, 1999

I found a letter at the Lancaster Co PA Historical Society written by Shirley BATES MCWARD concerning her great-grandmother, Anna Catherine WOLFKILL MURRY, wife of Jeremiah MURRY who was the son of Jacob MURRY. The letter was undated, but Shirley's residence was in Owaneco IL. According to the letter, the Murrys moved to Buckeye Prairie Community, Rosemont Twp, Christian Co IL about 1856. Some of her information was derived from the 1880 History of Christian Co IL concerning the family of Jeremiah MURRY. My interest to this family is through the WOLFKIEL surname, but I would like to correspond with anyone who might have additional information on the descendants of Jeremiah MURRY and Anna Catherine WOLFKILL.
