DORR, MCCURDY, POTTS, VANDIKE posted by Paula Fast Nance on Saturday, August 19, 2000

I'm researching William A. POTTS of Christian County back in the 1860s, and more specifically, the connection between the POTTS family and the MCCURDY family in Christian County, IL, back in the 1860s and 1870s. In the course of researching my MCCURDY ancestors, I've found a connection to this William A. POTTS. Evidently, Mr. POTTS was a Justice of the Peace. Here are the connections between the two families:
1. It appears that the land he owned in Christian County was in proximity to the land owned by John MCCURDY.
2. William A. POTTS performed the wedding ceremony for Sarah V. MCCURDY and and James Wm. DORR in 1868.
3. William A. POTTS and his wife, Sarah, had living in their home during the 1870 census, a Rebecca MCCURDY, age 20, who was born in Ohio.
4. William A. POTTS performed the wedding ceremony for this Rebecca MCCURDY and Edward L. VANDIKE in 1871.
If you have any information regarding William A. POTTS or the McCURDYs listed, please respond.
