BARRETT, LINCOLN posted by Andrew Barrett-Bettcher on Wednesday, February 25, 1998

I am trying to find information on Edward Harris BARRETT who move to Christian County in the early 1850's. The Illinois Land Purchase records show that he bought land in 1851 at Section 1, Township 11N, Meridian 3, Range 01W, the SE and SW parts of section.  He moved with his wife Charlotte and sons Frank and Walter.  Another son, Herbert Ezra BARRETT, was born in Illinois in 1852.  They came from New Hampshire and moved to Utica, MN by 1855.  Any information on Herbert's birth location, or Edward's residence would be helpful.  There is a family story that Edward knew Abraham LINCOLN.  I would like to prove this. Thanks for any assistance that you can give.

HARRIS posted by Debby Harris McGreehan on Thursday, February 26, 1998

Josiah HARRIS wrote a letter from Pana, Christian Co.,IL in May or 1872.  He had been residing there and paying rent for an undermined amount of time (less than 2 years)  He was in Rolla, Phelps Co, MO at March 1871.   His son Murray P. HARRIS was in the MO State Pen. and was given a governor's pardon in Aug 1872 and presumably went hometo care for his very ill father, Josiah.  Also to care for Josiah's wife and children since Josiah was no longer able to do labor. Murray was 18 or 19 at that time. Did Josiah die in 1872-3? Did the family of Josiah stay in Pana? or anywhere else in Christian Co?    ANY information is so appreciated. Debby (HARRIS) McGREEHAN, Cincinnati, OH
